HOW MUCH LONGER?

Updated: Sep 10, 2020

Meet Baby Piper. A month ago, Mike and I were at my son Kenney and his wife Andrea’s house to welcome her home. We shared a big celebration dinner and afterwards I asked Andrea about her labor experience. There was a pause, and looking at Kenney she said “It was intense.” Kenney chimed in…”Ya, intense.”

Intense is a good word to describe recent events. Like labor contractions, they have come one right after the other with very little time in between to recover. Are you overwhelmed?  Have you found yourself wondering how much longer before before this is all over? If so, you are not alone.

As a former labor and delivery nurse, let me say to you what I often said to my patients when they became weary and discouraged: "You can do this! It's not going to be much longer now! Pretty soon this pain will be behind you."

Friends, God is up to something good.  There is a delivery coming. One day, we will be welcomed by our heavenly Father and his family into our eternal home. There will be a celebration, a new beginning. Truly, the best is yet to come! However in between where we are and where we are going is a painful transition.

This world is not your home. It is ruled by Satan, God's enemy. He is the prince of this world.  His goal is to steal, kill and destroy your life.  Why?  Because without a doubt, there’s nothing more important to God than you are.

The truth is you are loved by the all-powerful, awesome God of the universe.  Right now, he is fighting on your behalf.  There is a spiritual battle taking place and the Good News is:  Love Wins.

Today, let your heart rest, like a baby in its father's arms. God can and will deliver you safely home,.

RESOURCES

I wrote this book with the help of several friends and family members. It tells my story, and how God rescued me from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. Most all of my memories were repressed, and when they resurfaced I thought I was losing my mind. If you or someone you love has experienced this kind of pain, I believe my story could help them. There is hope.

Available at laurelbahr.com/shop SAVAnon is a nonprofit that exists to create awareness regarding the emotional harm done by sexual abuse and to provide a pathway to healing for those that have been affected. Our free eight week healing groups are offered online. You can get more information or register for a group at savanon.org
